Sydney Alexis Winslow is a non-binary conceptual printmedia artist who often prefers dreams over reality. The subject of their work lends itself to worldbuilding, with an emphasis on figures and imagined bodies. Their mode of working alternates between collage, abstract markmaking, and illustration.
Their aim is to find the harmony between intuition, spontaneity, and intention, both within the art-making process and through the prodding of the viewer’s (and their own) unconscious.
By taking on a poetic disposition, their material choices serve as metaphors. They are especially drawn to paper and its various states and substrates, as well as how paper holds a 2D image while being itself a 3D object.
